Why is it important to choose an ISA Certified Arborist?
Trees are complex living organisms. The closer a tree grows to areas of human activity, the more important it is to know its condition. The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) provides a rigorous certification program for individuals working with trees to elevate their knowledge and credentials. A Certification Study Guide provided by the organization covers the broad spectrum of arboriculture. Candidates study tree biology, tree selection and planting, pruning, diagnosis of plant problems, tree assessment and risk management, safety, working in trees, among other subjects. Once prepared, the candidate must pass a 3-hour test covering these topics and tree identification. Once certified, the arborist must earn over 30 hours of enrichment credit over a 3-year period to maintain his or her certified status.
ISA Certification insures that the arborist looking at your trees has the expertise to determine the best process for their care and maintenance, as well as the knowledge of where to seek additional resources if necessary to determine the best course of action.
